This page sets out how we take payment, what you will be charged, and how billing works at Novera.
1. Currency and pricing
- All prices are displayed in pounds sterling (GBP).
- The price shown against a product is the total price for that item. There are no compulsory extra fees, service charges or handling charges.
- Novera Clothing Ltd is not currently registered for VAT, so no VAT is added to our prices.
- Delivery charges are separate. They depend on the service you choose and are calculated and shown in full at checkout, before you are asked to pay. Our delivery rates are published in the Shipping & Delivery Policy.
- The order summary at checkout shows the complete amount you will be charged before you confirm.
2. Accepted payment methods
We accept the payment methods displayed at checkout. These currently include:
- Debit and credit cards — Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and American Express
- Digital wallets — Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay
- PayPal
The methods available to you are shown at the start of the checkout process. We do not offer cash on delivery, bank transfer, cheque or payment on account.
If a payment method you have used becomes unavailable, we will tell you before you complete your order.
3. When you are charged
- Payment is authorised and taken in full at the time you place your order.
- Your bank may show a temporary authorisation hold before the charge settles. This is normal and is released or converted by your bank, not by us.
- If an item turns out to be unavailable after you have paid, we will cancel that item and refund it in full — see section 6.
- A contract is only formed when we send your dispatch confirmation. Taking payment does not by itself mean we have accepted your order.
4. Payment security
- Our checkout is provided by Shopify Payments and runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
- Card data is captured and processed by PCI DSS Level 1 compliant payment providers. Novera never sees, handles or stores your full card number, expiry date or security code. We only see the card type, the last four digits, and whether the payment succeeded.
- Card payments are protected by 3-D Secure (Visa Secure, Mastercard Identity Check, American Express SafeKey). Your bank may ask you to confirm the payment in your banking app.
- We and our providers run automated fraud checks on orders. We may ask for further verification, or decline and refund an order, where a transaction is flagged as high risk. We may cancel an order where the billing name and address do not match the payment method used.
5. Declined payments
If your payment is declined, no contract is formed and no goods are dispatched. Common causes are an incorrect card number or expiry date, a billing address that does not match your bank's records, insufficient funds, an expired card, or a block placed by your bank. Please check your details and try again, or use a different payment method. We do not receive the specific reason a bank declines a payment — your bank can tell you.
6. Refunds
- Refunds are made to the original payment method used for the order. We cannot refund to a different card, account or person unless you expressly agree to an alternative method.
- We never charge a fee for issuing a refund, and we do not charge restocking or cancellation fees.
- Once we approve a refund we process it immediately, and in any event within the statutory time limits set out in our Returns & Refunds Policy. Your bank or card issuer typically takes a further 3–5 working days to show the money in your account; PayPal is usually faster.
- Where an order was paid partly with a gift card, the gift card portion is refunded back to the gift card.
- Refund of the original delivery charge is dealt with in the Returns & Refunds Policy.
7. Billing details and receipts
- You must give complete and accurate billing details, and you confirm you are authorised to use the payment method.
- We email an order confirmation and a dispatch confirmation to the address you give us. Together these are your receipt, and they include the items, prices, delivery charge and total paid. Keep them for your records.
- Card statements will show a descriptor identifying Novera. If you do not recognise a charge, contact us before raising a dispute with your bank — we can usually resolve it faster.
- If your billing details change, please update them in your account or at checkout before ordering.
8. Discount codes and gift cards
- Discount codes must be entered at checkout. They cannot be applied retrospectively to an order that has already been placed.
- Unless we say otherwise, only one discount code may be used per order, and codes cannot be exchanged for cash.
- Gift cards are redeemable against purchases on this site only, cannot be exchanged for cash, and are non-refundable once issued.
- If you return an item bought with a discount, we refund the amount you actually paid for it.
9. Subscriptions and recurring payments
Novera does not currently sell subscriptions, memberships or any product involving recurring or automatically renewing payments. Every order is a one-off purchase. If we introduce a subscription product in future, we will publish separate terms and obtain your explicit consent before any recurring payment is set up.
10. Chargebacks and disputes
If you believe a charge is wrong, please email support@noveraclothing.shop with your order number first. We will investigate and respond promptly. Raising a chargeback with your bank before contacting us usually takes longer to resolve. We reserve the right to contest chargebacks we believe to be unjustified and to supply the relevant order, delivery and correspondence records to the card scheme.
